This vintage offered us a climatic year full of contrasts and unexpected events. But the month of September was the turning point of this vintage. It brought rain and sunshine every day, and boosted the ripening of the grapes, which is essential for quality. The saving rain gave back a Bordeaux classicism to the cabernet sauvignon while the merlot had the maturity of sunny vintages. This difference in ripening style is undoubtedly the carrier of the subtle harmony of the blends of grape varieties to come, and is one of the characteristics of this vintage.
Dark ruby. Complex, dense and expressive bouquet, with notes of
blackcurrant, blackberry and a hint of pepper. Delicious and creamy attack accompanied by notes of blackcurrant, cocoa and a hint of clove to add spice. The tannins are dense, powerful and enveloping. This happy balance gives the wine a very silky, delicate side, with great freshness.
Unique, timeless, and unbeatable, it is the first representative and keystone of the domain. That is why it receives the greatest attention in its preparation. After sorting the grapes in the vineyards and then carefully on a sorting table, vinification is done by parcels with minimal intervention. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete and thermoregulated stainless steel tanks before aging for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with an annual production of around 80,000 bottles.
Château Marquis de Terme fully expresses its typical gravel terroir through its blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The vineyard is planted on a historic gravel terroir in the heart of the Margaux appellation. Precision, technique, and new materials bring more purity to the wines. Density and freshness reveal silky notes with elegantly crafted tannins, typical of Marquis de Terme wines.
