2018 which year !

My dear friends, good morning! Here we are already in the month of December, damn it, time flies ! Let’s take a little look at the past year, a very rich vintage in every way. Judge for yourself !

2018, vintage of anthology

Remember, our dear and precious cultural leader David Houdet confided it to us in October: this 2018 will not have been an easy one! A year of climatic extremes, it shook the teams on the property to the core. Fortunately, all’s well that ends well, and it’s a nugget that is slowly being born in the cellars, a vintage with the makings of the greatest, “rich, with a very aromatic profile and a beautiful tannic structure, a real bomb in perspective”!

The blog of the Marquis de Terme

Pendant que les enfants prenaient place sur les bancs de l’école, septembre 2018 a aussi signé l’arrivée (ou plutôt le retour d’outre-tombe) de votre humble serviteur, j’ai nommé moi-même, le Marquis de Terme ! While the children were taking their seats in the school benches, September 2018 also signed the arrival (or rather the return from beyond the grave) of your humble servant, I myself appointed the Marquis de Terme! For four months now, I have been telling you monthly about my discoveries and making you live the life of the property, always with passion and wonder. And this is only the beginning… I will still be here, enthusiastic and dashing, with my wig firmly on, in 2019!

A wealth of new wine tourism products

“Marquis de Terme” has a touch of tourism, yes! The property has had a particularly rich year in this respect. Its dynamism was also rewarded by a “Best Of Wine Tourism” prize in the “Discovery & Innovation” category » for its “Atelier Grands Crus Classés 1855” tasting visit launched in 2018.

Never short of oenotourism imagination, the Château’s team did not limit itself to this single novelty. In partnership with the Bordeaux River Cruise company, it has also created « Margaux en vedette et bicyclette », a day-long guided tour by boat and bicycle from Bordeaux.

Always eager to let itself be discovered, the chateau obviously participated in the open house of the appellation at the beginning of April, welcoming 700 people in its vineyards, and once again triggered the enthusiasm of wine lovers thanks to the afterworks in the Médoc, co-organised with Chateaux Paloumey, Lamothe-Bergeron and Malescasse.

Since October 2018, the château also welcomes “those who want to say ‘yes’” to let them enjoy the enchanting setting of the estate. In the spotlight, “Marquis de Terme” hosted the 2018 edition of the folkloric (and no less sporty) Marathon du Médoc in early September, welcoming 1500 guests on Friday evening for the “dinner of the 1000 legs” and as many for Sunday lunch. This summer, on the occasion of the festival “Les Vendange du 7e Art” in Pauillac, I also saw Alain Chabat and Dany Boon pass through our vineyards, whose exquisite humour I was able to taste! And all this without forgetting a new shop and a new tasting room in the heart of the estate since January 2018, to welcome visitors in the most marvellous of comforts!

Many projects in perspective

Are you amazed by everything that’s happened this year, my dear friends? Behave yourselves… It’s not over yet, with more and more new things to come for the 2019 vintage!

« “We are finishing a decade of renovating the image of Marquis de Terme and the brand, and we are preparing a new decade. We have many renovation projects, started this year, but we will see the results in 2019,” confides to me, in a tone of secrecy, the director of the estate, Ludovic David.

On the menu, he tells me, “a restaurant project in the château building, a new seminar room in a house being renovated next to the château, as well as the renovation of the vat room and wine storehouse. “I can tell you, I can’t wait to see the results of all these projects!

And always, always, tirelessly going to meet directly with consumers and professionals.

Oh yes, believe me, I can testify to this, having seen it with my own eyes on a daily basis, the teams on the property do not spare their efforts to carry the good word up and down the hill!

“Château Marquis de Terme was present in December in Paris at the “Grand Tasting” with Bettane and Desseauve, then at the “Bordeaux Tasting” organised by the magazine Terre de Vins in Bordeaux. We also travel abroad, I was in the USA at the beginning of the year, with the Union des Grands Crus and with our distributors, in Japan to make the distributors taste the wines at the beginning of September”, Ludovic David tells me.

2018 is coming to an end, heading for 2019, always with spirit! In the meantime, happy holidays my friends!
